What if a TV series show intro could mimic the style and flips of a skateboard trick? Film Director Rocky Jo was approached by Producer / Show Host David Kang with the task of creating an eye-catching open for his new skateboarding series FLIP N’ SKATES. Inspired by all the various spins and flips talented skateboard athletes performed, Rocky thought it’d be perfect to have the show be introduced in such a way.

Filming in Los Angeles at the Vans Off the Wall Skatepark, Rocky worked with rising pros and legendary athlete Christian Hosoi to create the wildly fun video production. Using speed ramps and kaleidoscope effects, he was able to visually portray the feeling of skateboarders spinning, flipping, and doing kick outs.

Conveying a fast, fun, and slightly rebellious feel, the intro was meant to attract those who love the world of skateboarding. Like great TV video commercials and digital advertising, a great show intro should be able to electrify and entertain the audience, while introducing the casts and overall concept. In the end, the client walked away more than happy, and Rocky was able to grow a deeper appreciation for the sport.
