Asked to create a powerful digital ad that featured the MLB San Diego Padres and their proud long-standing relationship with the US Military and Department of Defense, film director Rocky Jo got to work. HIs creative direction was to draw parallels between the baseball team and heroes of the military by mirroring their motions… with one kickass soundtrack.
Similar to soldiers, athletes are among Rocky’s favorite people to work with as they’re superbly talented, disciplined, and pros at what they do. Filming at the beautiful Petco Park in San Diego, Rocky worked with his local crew of nearly 40 to glorify the players and soldiers. The shoot included filming aboard the USS Midway (which is talked about in detail here) and included various aircrafts, helicopters, and fighter jets.
It was an aggressive video shoot that needed to be highly efficient in order to succeed. Fortunately, Rocky worked with a great LA / SD crew. With a smartly efficient producing team, crew, and featured talent, Rocky was able to deliver a pair of digital ads that made both the Padres and the military proud.
