At the time that NBA star Josh Smith was still with the Atlanta Hawks, he collaborated with film director Rocky Jo to create a digital advertising video spot for the Atlanta Hawks organization, and a spec spot for Josh’ shoe brand Adidas. Eager to work with such a talented athlete and such a great basketball organization, Rocky envisioned a simple but meaningful video commercial that echoed the wisdom he often found in Michael Jordan commercials. The idea was to show Josh working on his game when everyone was long gone.
Working with the Atlanta Hawks, he was provided access to film State Farm Arena with his film production team, and they were able to capture some amazing footage. Working with Josh was a treat, and he was professional and a dream to work with. In the end, the Atlanta Hawks organization was more that happy with the powerful digital ad that was created, and as a bonus, Rocky was able to re-situate the video commercial as an Adidas spec.
